Want to live longer?

And how about living better too.  Every time I turn around, it seems I read something about bad things happening to good people who don’t make the effort to get proper sleep over the long haul.   So what is proper sleep? More on that later.  For starters, let’s bring you up to speed on a few things you’ll probably experience if you’ve been cutting corners on nighttime sleep.

The Snooze Blog Sleep Deprivation Checklist

Give yourself a point for anything on this list that applies to you

  1. Increased Irritability
  2. Clumsiness
  3. Loss of Concentration
  4. Decreased Daytime Alertness
  5. Impaired Memory
  6. Loss of Critical Thinking
  7. Increased Risk of Occupational Injury
  8. Impaired Immune System
  9. Hallucinations
  10. High Blood Pressure
  11. Heart Attack
  12. Heart Failure
  13. Stroke
  14. Depression
  15. Obesity
  16. Drowsy Driving

Conclusions to draw from the list above?

If you scored 3 or higher, time to take a closer look at your sleep skills.  Lack of sleep isn’t necessarily the main cause, but could at the very least be a contributing factor.
